BETTER than SEX?? I sure hope so~~

I will have to tell you that I have always had a fear of making caramel?? I really don’t understand why but I did in fact fear it~~and the bubbling up action that occurred when the heavy cream was added to the hot bubbling amber colored sugar water was pure excitement.  I know…I don’t get out much but I say whatever makes your skirt fly up go for it!! For me~~that answer is working with food.  So—my son discovered the famous Better Than Sex Cake aka…Paul Newman Cake. I will now make it a point to have this cake for him as often as he would like because I am hoping that he believes the name of this cake to be a TRUE fact~~a VERY TRUE FACT indeed!! Sooo~~I took a few pictures of the caramel sauce I created and the cake that is gonna’ keep my son outta’ trouble. 

Well—at least I like to think so???

Making the Target~~

Matthew and Julie were target practicing in the front yard today.  I will have to say that the weather was perfect.  Julie and Matthew are not so bad either~~

Well…well…well we have a few peepers checking out the fun in the yard on this beautiful fall day.

They were having fun and I enjoyed getting the chance to shoot some things of my own.  That would be pictures?? LOL

Productive~~

I guess I can say that someone has had a purte productive day. 

I am thinking that you can probably guess I didn’t have anything to do with this job~~the back and all?? Check out the root in the upper-right corner.  No wonder I couldn’t pull those weeds~~and believe me I didn’t try.  Dad and Matthew did this amazing hard work~~strawberries look out for next season!!!

Now this pic~~I had a hand or two in those bags.  I was able to put up 2 more gallons of tomatoes for the winter months~~they will be so good with the PW’s lasagna.  So…was your day productive????

Buzzzzzing Tuesday~~

Today was a pretty normal Tuesday…well~~except for Autumn has made her appearance in the mornings here where I live and the YJ’s (yellow-jackets)we discovered have been annihilated!!! Sorry YJ lovers…we had to get rid of them~~we have babies around this joint~~2 and 4 legged varieties to be exact.  So—here goes…straight from the phone to your home!! Breathtaking view~~one that I have seen for around—well lets just say it is longer than I care to count. The water is warmer than the air and this is the sign I have been waiting for!!! Autumn is officially here~~

Even the garden is telling me that fall has officially arrived!! We are down to just a few rows of veggies.

Even SanDee greeted me this morning~~while I was snapping this pic~~sure sign!! She would never EVER venture away from her fan if it were still summer!!!

This is a view of the lake from our house~~it sure is worth waking up for isn’t it!!! I could hear the early morning moisture dripping on the leaves and branches around me.  Yeah yall fall is officially here.  Isn’t it just great~~fantastic~~awesome!! This is my favorite time of year along with someone very special to me that is getting to see her first fall away from me in a BRAND NEW LIGHT~~I hope it is wonderful GRANDma!!! I tell ya’ I know we both enjoyed this time of year and I have a feeling it is gonna’ be a GREAT one and you have a front row seat!! ENJOY the splendor!!

This is the beautiful sky above—hardly a cloud in the sky today.  Who would have thunk that we would have had a trimmer here in the great state of KY?? Huh?? Not me!!

This little white 4 legged baby is the reason I was outside taking pictures of the sky.  Potty break~~she thinks momma has to have a potty break with her!! Don’t tell her but I enjoy them~~even though I grumble!!

This is the new project~~MY new project…well Rob is making it—but it is alllll mine!!! It is a blanket chest that will almost reach the width of our king size bed and a nice place to sit your bum and put your shoes on.  Can NOT wait for this one to be completed.  I bet Rob can’t wait either~~LOL!!

This is where the YJ’S have been living~~the ones that stung Matthew.  NOT the ones that stung the painters at my bros house and were sent to a better place today.  2 holes probably means a pretty darn BIG nest?? I will let ya’ know what is uncovered.  That is puurteee much it for now!! Love ya'!!

Boring?? Exciting?? In the EYE

I don’t know if you have noticed that I have not been writing much because I feel like my life is just toooo darn boring!! Well~~the more I think about that the madder I get!! Just like beauty is in the EYE of the beholder…well~~I say that exciting vs boring is also in the EYE of the beholder.  So—to @#!! with not writing.  I will write what is going on in my life and if ya’ don’t like it~~well…so be it!!! Matthew might just want to read this blog when he is in his 30’s and see just what we were doing in late August of 2011.  NOT!!! LOL!!!

Soooo~~today I got to visit with my nephew here at the house and then go eat with my son at our favorite restaurant Toro Loco.  Then I went to see my nephew because they were having yellow-jacket issues and Matthew had to go help.  Then came home and Matthew started mowing grass and stumbled upon a nest of yellow jackets here at our house~~got stung 5 times in the back and 1 time on the ear!!! OOOOuuch~~now what are the odds that your helping kill the suckers at your uncle’s house but you come home to be attacked by the suckers on your own turf!!?? Weird…I know!! See I told you that my life isn’t boring.  So back to the massive swarm of YJ’s~~I made the baking soda paste and put it on the stings and within just a few seconds the stinging/burning subsided.  So—I am going to show you a few pics of the things we saw/did today and I am going to try and do more and more small entries so that my son will have something to read to his grand-children when I am toooo old to see the words on the computer screen. 

 

Jack with his graham-crackers enjoying a ride in the wagon—thanks to mama Maggie.  The weather was wonderful today—autumn really is in the air.

We found the home of the toad that has been visiting Jack in his little play house. 

Then I got to color with Jack while Matthew killed the the YJ’s just outside their window.

Then if you look really really close you can see the grasshopper that Jack and I discovered in the bushes next door.  All in all I would have to say this was a pretty exciting day~~wouldn’t you?? Sure you do??
